New Year’s Eve Fireworks and Torchlight Ski-down, Dec. 31

Beaver Creek invites families to celebrate New Year's Eve.  Ride the new kids' gondola, the Buckaroo Express, and participate in a glow stick ski-down on the beginner Haymeadow run.  Then watch the mountain light up with the Ski Instructors Torchlight Parade.  A dazzling fireworks display will follow.  Enjoy outdoor ice skating, followed by dinner, dancing and champagne toasts at various restaurants including Beano's Cabin at 9,000 feet on Beaver Creek Mountain.

Talons Challenge, Jan. 26

Conquer 13 black and double-black diamond runs and 23,722 vertical feet in one day during this marathon on skis. Normally offered exclusively through ski school, guests can conquer the Talons for free during The Talons Challenge, Jan. 26, 2008.  Beaver Creek Mountain shows off its best steeps, glades and bumps in the expert Talons area– and there’s plenty to crow about.  Kids and adults tackle 13 of the resort’s toughest runs including Beaver Creek’s legendary World Cup Birds of Prey Downhill course.  Earn bragging rights and prizes by completing the Challenge in one day.  More than 1,000 skiers and riders participated in the free weekend festivities last winter. A post-event party on the mountain features a raffle prize drawing with a grand prize trip for two (including air, lodging and skiing) to Lech, Austria!  Participants must buy a lift ticket. 

Beaver Creek and Bon Appetit Culinary and Wine Focus, Jan. 31-Feb. 2

Beaver Creek Resort and Bon Appetit Magazine present the tenth annual Beaver Creek and Bon Appetit Culinary and Wine Focus, Jan. 31-Feb. 2.  Join your favorite celebrity chefs on the slopes for the highly competitive and entirely amusing ski race. Alongside this dubious exhibition of the chefs' true skills, the festival will also feature cooking classes, wine workshops, the Iron Chef-inspired MasterChef Challenge and the ever-popular Grand Tasting.  Indulge in savory and sweet creations by more than 30 top local and national chefs selected by Bon Appetit magazine.For tickets, call (888) 920-2787.

The New Yorker Presents Humor on the Slopes, Feb. 28-March 2

Need a lift this winter? Join the laughter in Beaver Creek as The New Yorker presents Humor on the Slopes. Enjoy a weekend of highly elevated comedy with daily events, appearances by New Yorker cartoonists, performances by renowned comedians, a comedy-film sneak preview and more.  Winners of a caption contest will be presented with the original art signed by the cartoonist and hand-lettered with their caption.  Guests can also enjoy intimate dialogues with their favorite cartoonists and can take home custom-drawn cartoons.  Children can get creative at daily Kid-tooning events.  Most events are free of charge. Snowshoe Shuffle, March 2

Presented by Vail Valley Medical Center, the 15th Annual Beaver Creek Snowshoe Shuffle is one of the largest snowshoe races in North America and is expected to again draw more than 1,000 participants on March 2, 2008.  Beginner and elite snowshoe runners and walkers can participate in 10K, 5K and one-mile events at 9,800 feet atop Beaver Creek Mountain.One hundred percent of proceeds from the Snowshoe Shuffle go to cancer prevention, education and early detection in select Colorado mountain communities. Approximately 70 percent of racers participate in honor of someone that has suffered from cancer, survived cancer or lost a life to cancer. About five percent of participants are cancer survivors. NEW! Cookie Kids Fest, March 13-15

Ski with the Pros at Beaver Creek, March 28-30

“Ski with the Pros” and test out the latest ski equipment during the SKI Magazine Experience in Beaver Creek, Mar. 28-30, 2008.  For a second year, SKI Magazine and Beaver Creek have teamed up to offer exclusive 90-minute ski workshops with top Beaver Creek Ski School instructors and world-class skiers. Weekend festivities also include après-ski parties hosted by SKI Magazine, product giveaways, free ice skating and an outdoor movie screening. Ski with a Pro workshops are available free of charge to guests who book lodging in Beaver Creek.  Spaces are limited and registration is required. Beaver Creek Wine & Spirits Series

Beaver Creek has partnered with Anthony Dias Blue of Blue Lifestyle and the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa to bring world-class wines and spirits to Beaver Creek for a series of weekends filled with seminars, tastings and special dinners.  Each weekend will also feature a guest chef selected by Bon Appétit magazine, who will be hosted by the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa. The dates are Nov. 29-Dec. 1, 2007; Jan. 10-12, 2008; March 6-8, 2008.

Snowshoe Adventure Series, 12/16/07, 1/13/08, 2/10/08, 3/2/08
This popular series features four races during the season in various locations throughout Beaver Creek. Beginners and walkers can enjoy a leisurely 5K or a one-mile stroll, while hard-core competitors battle for a prize purse in the 10K race. Free Atlas Snowshoe rental and Nike ACG footwear rental provided while supplies last. The Series benefits the Steadman Hawkins Research Foundation. Telemark Series

Presented by the Beaver Creek Ski Schools, the Beaver Creek Telemark Workshop Series invites everyone from never-evers to seasoned telemark skiers to experience the popular workshops. Participants can learn the basics or fine-tune their skills in a fun and relaxed learning environment. Workshops cater to all ages and abilities. All workshops run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Participants can bring their own equipment or rent high performance equipment through the Beaver Creek Telemark Demo Center.
