Ride the new kids' gondola, the Buckaroo Express, and participate in a glow stick ski-down on the beginner Haymeadow run. Then watch the mountain light up with the Ski Instructors Torchlight Parade. A dazzling fireworks display will follow. Enjoy outdoor ice skating, followed by dinner, dancing and champagne toasts at various restaurants including Beano's Cabin at 9,000 feet on Beaver Creek Mountain. Talons Challenge, Jan. 26Conquer 13 black and double-black diamond runs and 23,722 vertical feet in one day during this marathon on skis. Normally offered exclusively through ski school, guests can conquer the Talons for free during The Talons Challenge, Jan. 26, 2008. Beaver Creek Mountain shows off its best steeps, glades and bumps in the expert Talons area– and there’s plenty to crow about. Kids and adults tackle 13 of the resort’s toughest runs including Beaver Creek’s legendary World Cup Birds of Prey Downhill course. Earn bragging rights and prizes by completing the Challenge in one day. More than 1,000 skiers and riders participated in the free weekend festivities last winter. Enjoy a weekend of highly elevated comedy with daily events, appearances by New Yorker cartoonists, performances by renowned comedians, a comedy-film sneak preview and more. Winners of a caption contest will be presented with the original art signed by the cartoonist and hand-lettered with their caption. Guests can also enjoy intimate dialogues with their favorite cartoonists and can take home custom-drawn cartoons. Children can get creative at daily Kid-tooning events. Snowshoe Shuffle, March 2Presented by Vail Valley Medical Center, the 15th Annual Beaver Creek Snowshoe Shuffle is one of the largest snowshoe races in North America and is expected to again draw more than 1,000 participants on March 2, 2008. Beginner and elite snowshoe runners and walkers can participate in 10K, 5K and one-mile events at 9,800 feet atop Beaver Creek Mountain.One hundred percent of proceeds from the Snowshoe Shuffle go to cancer prevention, education and early detection in select Colorado mountain communities. Approximately 70 percent of racers participate in honor of someone that has suffered from cancer, survived cancer or lost a life to cancer. About five percent of participants are cancer survivors.
