11/8: Wake Up Breckenridge

As a huge “thank you” to the community, who shows our guests incredible hospitality all season long, we’d like to invite you to join us for coffee and company.  Members of Breckenridge’s management team and town leaders will be on hand at the following coffee shops in town to distribute 1,400 free mugs and free coffee to jumpstart the season. 

11/9: Opening Day Benefit
Breckenridge opens the season with a kick-off celebration. We will be flipping free pancakes from 8 am until they’re gone. Live Mariachi Music, giveaways and great prizes from our local radio station personalities at the Beaver Run base area! The lifts will be running at 8:30am so get here early to make your first turns of the season in Breck!Continuing an opening day tradition, all lift ticket proceeds benefit local charities.

12/1: The Lighting of Breckenridge
The holiday spirit begins with a truly old-fashioned celebration complete with steaming cups of hot cocoa, voices lifting into the night skies with choruses of "Silent Night", and visits from Santa during the lighting of the Town Tree.

12/3-12/8: The Hartford Ski Spectacular
The Hartford Ski Spectacular is the nation’s largest winter sports festival for people with physical disabilities. The weeklong event, now in its 20th year, includes learn-to-ski and race programs, youth development camps, sanctioned USSA races and a celebrity fun race. The event is sponsored by leading disability insurer, The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., and is conducted by Disabled Sports USA (DS/USA), a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee.

12/11-12/16: Chevrolet U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix
The world's finest athletes descend on Breckenridge for the first stop of this USSA sanctioned snowboard series.  The Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious snowboard circuits in the world.  This spectacular snowboarding event includes a Superpipe competition as well as a night exhibition. 12/25: Christmas Day 

12/31: New Year's Eve Torch Light Parade
Celebrate the New Year Breckenridge style! At 6:00 PM, skiers and boarders kick off the evening with a dazzling luminary, parading from the top of Peak 9 down American to The Village at Breckenridge. At 9:00 PM, watch a brilliant fireworks display from any downtown Breckenridge location!

January 2008

1/1: New Year's Day

1/6-1/11: Ullr Fest
This long-standing event pays homage to the mythical Norse God of Snow. A week-long schedule of events range from the Ullympics to the Ullr Bonfire to the famous (and unofficial world’s craziest) Ullr Fest Parade down Main Street. Come participate for the 42nd year celebration and see how the locals really celebrate.

1/21: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

1/22-1/27: International Snow Sculpture Championships
Fourteen teams from around the world compete in this eye-pleasing event, creating mammoth works of art from 12-feet-tall, 20-ton blocks of snow. The sculptors work during the week, reshaping the bounty of Mother Nature into freeform whimsy or spellbinding intricacy. Well-known artists act as judges for the event, which has brought sculptors from as far away as Morocco, Belize, Japan, Canada, Scandinavia, Russia, China and Wales.

February 2008

2/9: Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge
The Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge is a FREE race open to competitors of all ages and abilities. Join other riders for a day of fun on the slopes. In a dual giant slalom race, skiers and snowboarders compete in one of 23 skier and 12 snowboarder age and gender categories.

4/19: Imperial Challenge
The 13th annual Imperial Challenge warms up with a 6.2 mile mountain bike ride from the Town of Breckenridge across Peak 7 to Peak 8. Followed by a 2,500 foot, wind testing ascent of Peak 8 to the top of the Imperial Bowl on the equipment of your choice. As your quadriceps quiver from oxygen deprivation and lactic acid build up, a descent to the base of Peak 8 on skis or a snowboard. An hour and forty-five minutes could win; two hours would be a great time!

4/20: 27th Annual Breckenridge Bump Buffet
One of the long-standing spring skiing traditions in Breckenridge, the 26th annual Bump Buffet combines talent with spirit as telemarkers tackle the bumps dressed in zany costumes. Competitors may compete as a team or as an individual with great prizes and a raffle for all. This event is a must-see for those wishing to witness the effects of a long winter in Colorado.
