Keystone’s Founders Day
Keystone opened its lifts in 1970 with $5 lift tickets. Now, 37 years later, Keystone’s visionaries Max and Edna Dercum will be honored with the installation and dedication of a new bronze statue in River Run Village (a life-sized statue of Max and Edna). Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the Dercums and Bergmans, two of Keystone’s founding families and hear their first-person accounts of what it was like “back in the day.”

The 36 Hours of Keystone
It’s one of the zaniest events in the ski and snowboard industry. Keystone’s 36-hour event is open to everyone and anyone who wants to ski’/ride all day and all night and then all day again. It’s 36 hours of nonstop skiing and snowboarding and 36 hours of live music featuring some of the regional’s best bands and DJs. Get a team together for the chance to win $3,600 in the 36-Hour Team Challenge (teams must complete 36 laps in 36 hours). Visit keystoneresort.com for more information.

Betty Fest
Keystone’s women’s-only skiing program was one of the first programs in the industry to cater exclusively to women with specific training techniques, women’s-specific equipment workshops and pink boas. Since its inception, Betty Fest’s grown to become one of the industry’s largest and most well-known programs. This program features on-hill training, off-hill parties and workshops related to wellness, equipment. Dates for this year are Dec. 8-9, Jan. 26-27 and Feb. 9-10.

Chocolateville
Every holiday season, Keystone chef Ned Archibald sculpts 2,500 pounds of chocolate into a miniature alpine village complete with a massive chocolate mountain, a working chocolate gondola, a cascading chocolate waterfall and a 6-foot white chocolate Christmas tree with hand-blown sugar ornaments. This year’s mouth-watering creation will be unveiled mid-December in the lobby of the Keystone Lodge & Spa, A RockResort hotel.

Luna Chase Snowshoe Race
Grab your grass skirt and head to the top of the mountain for the 10th annual nighttime Luna Chase Snowshoe Race. Snowshoers walk, run and dance their way from the top of North Peak at 11,444 feet to the summit of Dercum Mountain. After three miles of rigorous climbing and descending, participants celebrate with a Hawaiian luau and awards ceremony at the Summit House. River Run New Year’s Eve Celebrations
Ring in ’08 with skiing and snowboarding until 9 p.m. and festivities in Keystone’s slopeside village of River Run. Keystone will be the place to welcome 2008 with a bang and a festive fireworks show.

River Run Mardi Gras Street Party and Parade
Got beads? Keystone will be overflowing with beads and gumbo Feb. 5 for its Mardi Gras fete, which is one of the largest Mardi Gras celebrations in the ski and snowboard industry. The float parade winds its way through the River Run Village. Get a bird’s eye view from one of the dozens of village condo balconies that overlook the parade route and don’t miss the live N’awlins music or gumbo cookoff. Blues and BBQ Festival
Here's a cure for your "end of the ski season blues" - Keystone's Blues & BBQ festival March 22. Mix in some sunshine with lip-smacking barbecue from Keystone's award-winning chefs and live blues music to celebrate spring skiing in the Rockies at the Blues & BBQ festival in the slopeside village of River Run. Vote on the best BBQ in Keystone with the new barbecue showdown event. Plus, the brews, tunes and BBQ benefit the local Snake River Community Association, a nonprofit that promotes a vibrant community in the Keystone area with cultural programs, community events and community facilities.

Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam
Calling all snowboarders! Bust a move in Keystone’s A-51 Terrain Park at the Volcom PB&R Jam from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Categories are 15 and under, 16 and up, girls and pro/am.

Full Moon Snowshoe Tour
Forget about the usual tours and sign up for Keystone’s unique full-moon snowshoe tour with former Olympian Jana Hlavaty, director of Keystone’s Nordic Center. Jana and her team will take you on a tour of the Rocky Mountains by light of the full moon (and a headlamp). The start time depends on the time of the year, but is usually between 5–6 p.m. and the tours cost $33 and include snowshoe rentals and a hearty all-you-can-eat soup and dessert buffet.
