Beaver Creek, Colo., Jan. 17, 2008—Beaver Creek’s Talons Challenge invites skiers and snowboarders of all ages to conquer 13 of the resort’s most challenging black and double-black diamond runs and 23,722 vertical feet in one day on Saturday, Jan. 26.  More than 1,000 participants are expected for the annual event with music, aid stations offering snacks and drinks, and prize giveaways including a trip for two to Lech-Zurs, Austria.

The Challenge takes place on the bumps and steeps on the legendary World Cup Birds of Prey Downhill course, in Larkspur Bowl and on the flanks of Grouse Mountain.  Some of the runs including the World Cup trail will be groomed.

Those who complete the Challenge in one day on Saturday, Jan. 26 will earn a collector’s Talons hat, lanyard, a free bratwurst and a beer or soda. All registrants are invited to the A' Prey' Party at the umbrella bar at Red Tail Camp from 2-4 p.m. for music and prize giveaways. In addition to t-shirts, sweatshirts, ski and snowboard giveaways, one grand prize raffle winner will receive a roundtrip vacation package to Beaver Creek’s sister ski resort, Lech-Zurs, Austria, including airfare, lift tickets, and lodging for two.

The event is free and open to advanced level skiers and snowboarders of all ages.  Participants must present a valid lift ticket or pass.  Registration will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Talons tent at the base of the Centennial lift in Beaver Creek Village and also on the mountain at Red Tail Camp.

From Jan. 6–Feb. 15, guests can buy four nights of lodging and four days of skiing and get a fifth night and ski day free starting at $533 per person based on availability and quad occupancy in a two-bedroom condominium.
