Today Vail Resorts, Inc., (NYSE:MTN) announced that all of the Company’s season passes for next season – The Epic, Colorado, Summit and Heavenly season passes – will utilize a new state-of-the-art radio frequency technology that’ll offer an “easy scan” process giving skiers and snowboarders the option to keep their pass zipped inside their jacket in the lift lines at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone in Colorado and Heavenly in Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev. “Instead of fumbling to find your season pass in your coat to present at the lift lines next season, our scanners will be able to detect your pass through your jacket which will provide our guests with an easier and more convenient experience,” said Rob Katz, chief executive officer for Vail Resorts. “At Vail Resorts our mission is Extraordinary Resorts, Exceptional Experiences. The enhanced season pass functionality is an example of this.” To implement the new technology, all new and renewing pass holders will be mailed their season pass before the start of the 2008-2009 season. Spring pricing, which is the lowest guaranteed pricing of the year, is currently in effect for Vail Resorts’ popular Colorado season passes: $399 for The Summit Pass™ that gives Colorado skiers unlimited, unrestricted access to Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin next season and $439 for The Colorado Pass™ that offers unlimited, unrestricted skiing at Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin with an additional 10 days* at Vail and Beaver Creek for the 2008-2009 season. Vail Resorts’ new, revolutionary season pass product, The Epic Season Pass™, features unlimited, unrestricted skiing with access to more than 18,000 acres of skiing at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly and Arapahoe Basin for the entire 2008-2009 season, all for $579. “The Colorado and Summit Pass products have proven to be very popular with our Colorado skiers and snowboarders, offering our guests a terrific value and our Company strong guest loyalty,” Katz said. “Now, with the addition of the Epic Season Pass™, Vail Resorts is offering the best variety and value to all of our guests in our mountain communities, in the Front Range, across the United States and around the world.” Added spring benefits for pass holders Similar to last year, Vail Resorts is offering added spring benefits for purchasers of The Colorado Pass™. And, new this year, they’re extending these benefits to purchasers of The Summit Pass™ and The Epic Season Pass™. To further sweeten the pot, all Colorado-based Summit, Colorado and Epic pass holders for the 2008-2009 season will be included as a member of the Colorado Pass Club™ (CPC) and will receive exclusive member-only discounts, free offers and more. In the past, membership into this club was only for Colorado Pass holders. Additionally, all guests who purchase a Colorado, Summit or Epic pass will receive the following benefits:
Vail Resorts season passes can be secured at the spring prices for $49 down with the balance of the payment deferred until September 2008. All pass prices are subject to change.
